Programme note
Un patrimoine en relation avec l’invisible, le merveilluex et le sacré is a short work written in celebration of Elliot Carter’s 100th birthday for the LCMG’s Carter/Bach project. The work is based on the ‘royal theme’ from Bach’s A Musical Offering and uses it as a base note row in a simple fashion. Although the work is written with Carter in mind, there is more then a nod in the direction of another great composer born in 1908 – Olivier Messiaen.
